I had a really busy week this week, and it seemed as though I could not find a sensible time to set up a time to practice with the whole worship band, so, this week, it was just my wife Jennifer and I.. nice a simple, piano and guitar, and 2 vox (I’m sure the sound guy loved it!)
As I said, it was a busy week.. I was coming off of a weekend away, speaking at a conference in Edmonton, so, even though it was the weekend, I still had a lot of things to catch up on.. it seemed as though, while I almost never get important calls/emails, they all decided to come, on the weekend I was away. To add to the busyness of playing catch up, my wife went back to work this week, after a years maternity leave.. however, Seth was coming off of the end of flu, so, he couldn’t go to his new babysitters, for risk of getting her kids sick.. so, it was a “Seth and Daddy Week” which was crazy! I love my son VERY much, and would do anything for him, but, I have NO IDEA how Jennifer spends 24/7 with him.. I was loosing it after only a couple days.. so, cudos to her for that.
Now, onto the SetList…
Everlasting God (B) – we introduced this song a few weeks ago, so, decided to bring it back in, as a refresher.
Blessed Be Your Name (A)
Holy is the Lord (G)
Because He Lives (C) – offering (sorry for the lame link version. I couldn’t find a pepped up version like the one we do)
The Wonderful Cross (D)
Today was communion Sunday for us, which we didn’t know when planning out the service, so, we hadn’t planned anything for communion, but, at the beginning of the service, I told the pastor that I could come up with something.. then, during The Wonderful Cross, I broke my E string, and it threw my guitar completely out of tune.. so, I asked Jennifer if she could just play something on the piano during communion, she agreed.. then, while our son was in Nursery, he was having a terrible time, so, Jennifer ended up staying down there with him.. which meant I had to make a choice.. play the out of whack guitar, throw on the iPod, or play something on the piano.. I’m not a very good piano player, I can get by though, so, I decided to play the piano..
And Now My Lifesong Sings (C) I decided to pick an easier song to play, since its been months since I’ve played the piano, and I had no music.
All in all, it was a great service.. afterward, I came home, and fell asleep for a nice 3 hour Sunday afternoon nap.. I woke up feeling worse than I did when I laid down.. guess I slept to long!
Here is the Flow Sheet from PCO for those interested.
