I listen to the SYM Podcast every week.. Doug Fields and the gang always have many great things going on, and always great questions.
A few times now, they have done different weight loss challenges, because, 2 of the podcast hosts (Josh Griffin and Matt McGill) are, of the plus size. I’ve always wanted to take part in the SYM challenges, not because of the sweet prizes, but, simply because, I need to loose some weight.
According to the Healthy Weight Calculator I should weigh somewhere between 156lbs, and 210lbs.. now, realistically, if I weighed 150-200 lbs, I would look terribly unhealthy.. at least I think I would.. So, my realistic goal is NOT to weigh 150lbs.. not even 210 lbs.. I think if I could get down around the 220-230 range, I would be very happy.
I started working out 2 weeks ago.. so, I have a bit of a jump on the SYM gang.. BUT, when I sign up to the challenge, I will not use my starting weight from 2 weeks ago, I will use my current weight, which is 320lbs… when I started working out 2 weeks ago, I weighed 330lbs.. this came as a big shock to me, and made me realize its time to make a difference.
Working out and weight loss is no new thing to me. I worked out all through Junior High, when I was swimming on my towns swim team, and, then during college, I worked out.. some.. I at least had a gym membership.. when I went to Yellowknife to work for a summer, I worked out 6 days a week, for 2 hours at a time, and to add to the work out, I wasn’t eating meat either.
The SYM Challenge is a 12 week challenge.. to drop the pounds, I am using the Bowflex 6 week challange, which is a 30 min workout, 3 days a week.. however, I am working out 6 days a week, because its easier to get into a rhythm when you do it that often. You can get all the details on the SYM I’m a Loser contest Here Join the challenge if your willing!!
The following is my “weigh in photo” and my “Before” photos, as we are suppose to do for the challenge.. yes, I’m not fancy with a cool digital scale.. but, currently I’m weighing in at 320lbs. I don’t know what 12 weeks will bring, but, I’m excited to have other people working on this too.
