Archives For Mac

Just thought I would share this useful tip with everyone. I’ve been looking for a free WebDAV for months, and every time I find one, it seems they change their business plan and start charging for their service.

If you’re wondering what I use a WebDAV for, it allows me to save files from my iPad to my box.net cloud service, or you could pay for dropdav and save those files to dropbox. You see, I don’t have the latest version of Mac OS X on my MacBoom, and because of that, I can’t run iCloud on it, which means when I save files in Pages on my iPad, the only way to get them to my Mac is either to email them to myself (oldschool), or to use dropbox or box.net cloud services… But you can’t send files from pages (on your iPad) directly to these services.. This is why you need a WebDAV. In pages you can “share to WebDAV” just like you would share to email.

Because box.net allows you to do it for free, I’ll provide the server info for that, but if you want to use dropbox, and don’t mind paying a few dollars a month for dropdav, you can just put in their server address instead.

Assuming you have a box.net account open Pages on your iOS device then select the “plus” button in the document window.

Then select “copy from WebDAV”

The server address is “https://www.box.com/dav”

Put in your username and password, and your good to go.

You can now upload documents directly from Pages to your Box.net account. All you do when you’re done typing a document is press the wrench in the upper left corner, then press share and print:

Then press copy to WebDAV and select the folder you want it to go in and you’re done!

Pages also gives you the option to convert the document to PDF or Word format or keep it in Pages format when it copies it.

And if you’re like me and you had a folder on dropbox that you wanted to move over to box, so you could manage it all through WebDAV, check out “backup box” a free (up to 10gb) automatic file transfer service!

I was playing around with a video editing app on my iPad last night and made this video for y’all. The song is “Remembrance” by Matt Maher and it was shot entirely on my iPad and iPhone and edited on my iPad using an app called vJay.. the audio was captured on my iPad just using the mic on my apple ear buds.. I just wanted to see what kind of video could be made using this app. It’s not actually intended for editing videos like this, its for live vjing, but I thought “why not set up a couple cameras, and use the video from them and make a video.

So here it is! Enjoy!

I did a quick video review/update of the AirTurn BT105 using the Boss FS5U instead of the AFTS2 Pedals.. truly a guitar players dream.. check it out.

Coming up next week is a review of the JamUp.. a audio interface for your iOS device allowing you to record or use amp and pedal apps right on your iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. I’ll also be GIVING ONE AWAY!

As many of you know for the last number of months I’ve been off work with a back injury, and I’ve been trying to find different ways to make money while I wait for disability to (hopefully) kick in.. I’m still waiting to find out if I qualify.. it’s a 6 month process.

If you’ve been reading for any period of time, you know that I’ve been running a small photography business for a number of years, but you also know that I LOVE iPhone photography. I decided that I would create a 80 page book of some of my favorite photos that I’ve taken and edited with my iPhones over the years. All the photos in the book have never seen a computer, aside from being laid out in the book editor. They were taken, and edited, and cross edited, strictly on an iPhone, sometimes with apps simple apps like instagram, sometimes with multiple apps like Camera+, Camera Bag, Photo FX, and Snapseed.

As we continue our look at using iOS devices in worship, today I want to talk about a very practical app that I found about 2 years ago, that has really helped me!

You read the title right.. today I’m talking about SongSuggest, no, it’s not a typo, I didn’t mean to write SongSelect.

SongSuggest is one of those apps that I think a lot of worship leaders use, they just don’t like to admit they use, because they want people to think that they planned that awesome worship set! SongSuggest is an app that allows you to pick a theme, and there is a long list of themes, and then it will give you a list of songs that go with that theme. You can pick songs by tempo if you want. Say you’re doing a theme on Grace, and you’ve got 6 perfect songs, but you really need 1 more to complete the setlist, and you need a slower song, but you just can’t think of one. All you do is open SongSuggest, pick “grace” and then pick “slow” and boom, instantly piles of song suggestions come up. You even have the choice to hear the song.. it’ll give you a youtube link, an iTunes download link, or many other music store links!

This past year I’ve really been focusing on the tech posts (as you can see from my Top 11). This wasn’t my initial purpose with the blog. Originally I planned on posting a lot of ministry based stuff, and I did some of that, but looking at the stats, that wasn’t the stuff getting the hits this year. So my plan (do I dare call it a resolution) for 2012 is first of all to post more, but I’m going to continue to focus on Tech stuff, but I’m planning to specifically post more on Tech in ministry. So the coming months will hopefully provide you with some great tech tools and tips that will help your ministry, whether you are in youth ministry, worship, tech, whatever ministry you may be in. I will also continue to post random cool hacks I find like Pandora in Canada (it had over 10,000 hits in 2011).
